BTR can be reached by rail. Utkal Express begins from New Delhi around 3 pm for Umaria and reaches around 6 am the next morning. Umaria railway station is about 32 km from the Tala Gate where most of the accommodations are located. Another route is from Jabalpur the train leaves Jabalpur Station in morning hours and reaches Umaria around afternoon. There is only one train from New Delhi to Umaria.
Bandhavgarh is also connected with Katni Junction which recieves trains from many corners of India. Upon reaching the Junction one needs to take a bus to Tala or Umaria which is a ride of roughly 80 to 112 km from the railhead. Similar route is from Satna. Satna to Bandhavgarh distance is about 226 km.
Jabalpur lies equidistance from MP tiger reserves. One can rach Jabalpur by train from New Delhi Nizamuddin Station. There are about 4/5 overnight trains via Agra to Jabalpur. From JBP you can drive down to BTR which is about 170 km or take a train to Umaria the latter is a cheaper option. Pleae make full enquiry and reservations prior to boarding the trains as timings may chane. While traveling by rail in India always book your space in advance.
